What is a Life Coach?
A Certified Life Coach is a trained wellness professional who partners with you to help you achieve greater progress and fulfillment in your life.
A life coach is trained to ask the questions that identify your true goals and the obstacles that hold you back from achieving them.
By using a variety of strategies (including neuroscience-based techniques such as neurolinguistic programming and cognitive reflex conditioning) a life coach will provide you with the tools you need to overcome any obstacles, and will provide accountability, guidance, and support allowing you to move forward when you feel stuck or off track.
A Life Coach Can Help You
- Resolve feelings of lack or being unsatisfied
- Overcome dread or fear
- Resolve feelings of being lost or off-track
- Eliminate repeating negative patterns such as bad habits, job losses or unhealthy relationships
- Reach your full potential
- Achieve a greater sense of happiness and fulfillment
What's the Difference Between a Life Coach and a Therapist?
Though there are areas of similarity between a therapist and a life coach, a life coach differs from a therapist in that a therapist will focus more on the past and present, while a life coach will work more on the present and future.
As well, a life coach does not diagnose or provide treatment for mental health conditions and is trained to identify when treatment from a therapist or other mental health professional would be more appropriate.
What to Expect on Your Journey
Your journey with a life coach will begin with an assessment to identify where you currently are followed by an exploration of where you desire to be.
You and your coach will then work together to build the framework to bridge the gap and identify barriers (such as limiting beliefs), develop new skills and increase self-awareness to ensure you are able to move forward in your journey toward living your purpose - and your best life.
